So true, Bill! But don't you find that loving God above all else is a bit difficult and takes time to develop? Strange, too, since I believe our love of God is itself a gift from God. Even though it is given, it's not automatic, and the depth that it can reach is not immediate (though perhaps it is for some, according to God's plan for that person).
And for me, my love of God has only really grown as I've come to more fully understand that no one and nothing can love me as deeply as God does. That's hard to internalize, especially b/c so few of us actually accept and love ourselves. Though it may be a cheesy Whitney Houston song, I think it is quite powerful and transformational.
Cindy would like to add that she appreciates your concise blog, and laughs at my lengthy response. It is true that the more words, the more fuddled the message. Alas, I'm just verbose.

I agree with everything you said Steve.
I had two interpretations in mind when I wrote it:
If you love something or someone more than the God of the Bible, you don't comprehend what He's done.
The thing you love most deeply is by definition your god, be it your job, your spouse, your money or yourself.
