Idealism
I need to stop watching movies like Patriot and Braveheart. They make feel like what I do is worthless.Or, I need to do something more potentially impactful with my life than making video games.
Or, I need to convince myself once and for all that video games matter in the Grand Scheme.
Or, I need to re-convince myself that it's not so much what you do, but how you do it, and who you are that matters in the 'changing the world for the better' sense.
Those of you who know me know this is not a new struggle. In fact, those of you who know me well are probably getting tired of it. I am too. So, once and for all, I'm going to work through those three "Or's" right here, out loud. And when I get into one of these funks again later you can say, "Shut up Bill," and point at this blog and wiggle your eyebrows pointedly.

I'm currently facing the same/similar struggle as well. Am I entering a career that is part of ruining the world?
The other slant I struggle with is my joy of outdoors and physical activity vs. fun via computer.
Your talks at Jubilee helped clear up a few things for me. I haven't built up enough willpower/energy to blog about my thoughts, but I'd definitely enjoy digging into them a bit more.
Maybe you could write a book about your working out of the three "or's" and then in selling the book, do something impactful with your life, make video games matter in the Grand Scheme even more, and change the world for the better, along with make a lot of money.
Being the old fart that I am, I can honestly say I've learned that you normally don't notice that you've made an 'impact' or an 'impression' until long after tha fact. If at all.
All you can do is the best that you can do, and hope that somewhere along the way, you make a difference. I can tell you that you have.
To paraphrase McCoy, of all the people of all the planets of all the universe's, please don't mess with the one named Bill. We like you just the way you are. So don't...
"Shut up Bill."

I'm glad the Jubilee talk helped Deg - I'm still trying to figure out how deeply I believe what I think I was saying there lol.
Ryan's plan sounds awesome and sounds like a lot of work.
LR. I like how the world looks through your eyes.
