>> go west

FOREST GLEN

Paths from the east and south meet here in a small valley. A wide, short tree dominates the glen. An ornate door has been mounted in the tree's trunk. There is a small but menacing-looking rocket pointed at a cliff wall to the west. The forest is too thick for passage to the north. There is a mailbox here.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 10

>> Go north

THICK FOREST

You're standing in a thick forest. Big, thick trees crowd around you. High above, a thick canopy of leafy branches blot out the sun. A stone well sits in the middle of the thicket. Orangle light glows from the well, underlighting the trees. A wooden bucket hangs above the well attached to a pulley system by a thick rope. There's a note in the bucket. Narrow trails lead south to a white sand beach and west to more forest. Thick trees block any further passage to the north and east. It's very warm here.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 9

>> Go east

OCEAN BEACH

You are standing on a white sand beach. Water laps gently at the shoreline. The surf is calm. To the north is a thick forest. South is an impassable cliff wall. To the west you see a meadow of yellow flowers. A dock reaches east into the sea and ends at a white-washed gazebo.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 8

>> ring bell

You take the tarnished bell out of your pocket and ring it. A whooshing sound begins whooshing in the air above you. All the butterflies in the meadow, save one, make their way toward you. A sylph appears out of the whooshingness, floating in the air. She frowns at the dead butterfly. She frowns at you. She disappears, and the butterflies scatter. You put the tarnished bell back in your pocket.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 7

>> ring bell

You take the tarnished bell out of your pocket and ring it. A whooshing sound begins whooshing in the air above you. All the butterflies in the meadow, save one, make their way toward you. A sylph appears out of the whooshingness, floating in the air. She smiles at you. She motions to the butterflies, who gather and form a wiggling, imperfect rectangle that is roughly door-shaped. Through the doorway you can see...the rest of the meadow. The sylph frowns, "We seem to be short a butterfly. I'll have to get back to you." The sylph disappears, and the butterflies scatter. You put the tarnished bell back in your pocket.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 6

>> Hey Bill, is this supposed to remind me of Zork? I just looked it up and found out it was originally created in 1971--released in 1980--by (who else) a couple of MIT students. Didn't realize it was THAT long ago! Anyway, I think the butterfly should be set free, if it's still alive. Maybe replace it with a yellow flower or two.

I don't know how to "Hey"

MEADOW

You're standing in a field of yellow flowers. Blue butterflies wander here and there. There is a forest edge to the NORTH. Cliff walls rise in the SOUTH and WEST. You can hear the ocean to the EAST. There is a stool here. A tarnished, brass call bell has been placed on the stool.

>> Read sign

The weather-worn sign still retains enough of its lettering that you can discern the words "to earth" beneath an arrow that points into the forest.

Seamwalkers, Prompt 1

FOREST EDGE PATH

You're standing at the edge of a forest. Tree banches sway gently, green leaves flutter. A dirt path leads NORTH into the forest and SOUTH into a meadow filled with yellow flowers. White clouds dot a blue sky. There is a wooden SIGN here with faded writing that might be legible if you looked closer.
